1. RTO
The first thing is to locate the nearest RTO. I live in Bhilai and the RTO nearest to me is in Durg. I went there at 11:00 AM and there were around 10-15 people lining up in front of a tiny hut.
Only two documents needed:1. Your original old driving licence2. Adhaar card's copy
2. Location of RTO Durg
3.Lok Seva kendra
My first question was, why is it outside the building, why, when you have this big building, one has to made a separate formation. What's inside the building? Nevermind, Lok seva kendra is a very tiny cabin like room with only two employees.
That reminds me of the passport verification office inside the Durg postal office, where they made a separate small garage-like building in the backyard of the postal office and it took us more than a half hour to find it.
As you enter the premise, just in front of you, outside the main building, you can see a small hut-like formation with a tin shed. This place is LOK SEVA KENDRA, and your first stop. This is where you have to make payment and will get your form filled by a kind gentleman. It cost me 500 RS to upgrade my old driving licence to a new smart card driving licence. He printed out my duly filled form, attached it with an Adhaar card and gave it back to me to submit at counter no. 9 . Finding the counter number 9 was a mystery to me. I thought it would be inside the building. Now is my chance to enter the building.
COUNTER NO. 9
I approached the entrance and asked the person sitting there for directions to counter number 9, which he said was outside and on the left side of the building. It's my first time writing a blog, therefore I will learn from my mistakes. So I forgot to take a photo of the counter No. 9. But it is not very hard to find. If you go to the left side of the building, you will be able to see a series of counters, with the first one being counter no. 9. My turn took about 10 minutes because the work was done quickly. A madam entered my data into her computer, gave me my form, and sent me to counter no. 8.
COUNTER NO. 8
Once again, I thought, this is the chance to enter the building. I asked the same person who was sitting in front of the building entrance about the counter no. 8 and this time he sent me on the right side, just behind the lok seva kendra. Reaching there, I came to know that it was for photography and sign entry. I lined up and completed my part. Finally, after photography and sign entry, all the things are now completed and you can submit your form at counter no. 9.
Step by Step:
1. Reach RTO, find lok seva kendra.
2. Make payment and take back the filled form and go to counter no. 9.
3. After data entry at counter no. 9, go to counter no. 8(photography and sign entry).
4. After counter no. 8, submit your form to counter no. 9.
5. Wait for the driving licence to come to your home by post.
